Damas Company Pvt Ltd started more than 45 years ago as a construction business and is now a leading Male’-based conglomerate company servicing a broad base of customers across different industries catering to their needs and demands and an expanding vast of consumers and corporate customers across the Maldives.

1970s : The Company’s origin lies in the construction business that Mr. Mohamed Salih, the Chairman of the Company, set up in Male’ in 1978.

1980s:   Mr. Mohamed Salih and his business partners formed Dimms Pvt. Ltd in 1983.

1990s:   It was a period of intensive investments and creating new avenues. A modern approach was introduced, paving the way for the launch of new leading products and services.

2000s:   Partners of Dimms decided to dissolve the company and split its businesses. Damas Company Pvt Ltd came into being in the same year.

2001 – 2025  Continues development...Focused on maintaining excellent products and satisfactory service.

From humble beginnings following the British withdrawal from Gan, Mr. Salih relocated to Malé, where he began transforming challenges into opportunities. His early ventures in logistics and infrastructure laid the foundation for Damas, which has since evolved into one of the Maldives’ most respected business groups, recognized for its values of trust, quality, and customer care.

Beyond business, Mr. Salih has made lasting contributions to the nation. As President of the Maldives Chamber of Commerce and later Vice President of the SAARC Chamber, he played a pivotal role in strengthening regional trade and empowering local entrepreneurs. His leadership was instrumental during critical moments such as the national tsunami relief efforts, earning him national and international recognition, including a National Award of Honour from the Government of Maldives.

Guided by the principles of honesty, perseverance, and compassion, Mr. Salih continues to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs. His message to young leaders is simple yet profound:
