Chairman of Damas Company, Mr. Mohamed Salih has received the prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the “GOLD 100 GALA” organized by the leading digital magazine, Corporate Maldives.
Mr. Salih began his career in 1961 at the Royal Air Force in Gan, where he was trained as a draughtsman and foreman within the building and engineering sector. With this formative experience gained during his time with Royal Air Force in Gan, he thereafter ventured into entrepreneurship within the construction and trading sectors. As an entrepreneur with a strong vision for the future, Mr. Salih’s early contributions to the construction industry paved the way for his future endeavors.
As the chairman of Damas Company beginning from its inception, the Company has grown and transformed into one of the most reputed group businesses within the Maldives, helmed by a pioneering leader within the community. In addition to trading, Damas has now further ventured into the real estate, hospitality, and medical sectors within the Maldives.
Mr. Salih was an early entrant to the Maldives fast developing tourism sector in the 80’s when he and his partners developed the then named Lhohifushi Island Resort (Presently Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi). Subsequently he contributed to the development of the well-known Adaaran Select Meedhupparu and Heritance Aarah, along with Varu by Atmosphere. His other notable contribution to the tourism industry was serving as the first managing director of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), during which time the company successfully developed and brought into operation, Herathera Island Resort located in Addu Atoll, Maldives.
Throughout his lifetime, and with a strong sense of duty, Mr. Salih also contributed to the Maldives public service in various capacities. Notable highlights include serving on the board of directors of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), being a member of the Economic Advisory Committee to the President of the Republic of Maldives, serving as the Vice President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, serving as the President of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, serving as a member of the revenue board of Ministry of Finance and Treasury, and serving as a member of the advisory council at the Maldives Tourism Promotion Board under the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.
The sixth edition of Corporate Maldives, “GOLD 100 GALA” was held at CROSSROADS Maldives on the night of 29th November 2022. “GOLD 100 GALA” is an annual invitation-only networking event bringing together top executives of the Maldivian business community and celebrating the high-achieving companies within the country.
